Who is Leeroy Jenkins?
Leeroy Jenkins sent us the message that games should be fun to play first and foremost - they shouldn't be about repetitive chores or hard work. Yes, there is actually a deep underlying philosophical meaning... Well, maybe not really. It's just a hilarious video of a WoW guild raid gone bad... Enjoy.

This is what started it all...
Interesting Facts About Leeroy Jenkins
Some information from behind the scenes.
- The real name of the person who created the Leeroy Jenkins character is Ben Schulz. You can see him in the interview video below. At the time the video was made, he was in the guild called "Pals for Life". Just in case an opportunity appears, Ben has started a business named "Leeroy Jenkins Entertainment".
- Leeroy's server was the Laughing Skull (PvP). After his video, "A Rough Go" (you can see it on YouTube module above) started gaining popularity, that server was flooded with people starting characters like iluvleeroy or leeroyroxx and flooding the poor guy's chat window 24/7 with "LEEEROOOOOY JEEEEENKINS" whispers.
- Leeroy's video is a so called "machinima" - that is, a movie filmed in a video game. Since WoW now has over 10 million subscribers, it's no wonder there are so many WoW videos created. What's phenomenal about "A Rough Go" is that it became so popular with it's relative simplicity and low quality.
- The video takes place in Upper Blackrock Spire, the Rookery room. Short for UBRS, it is an instanced raid dungeon in World of Warcraft that takes a lot of people to beat.
- A lot of people have voiced several seemingly valid reasons why this video is staged. The author hasn't officially confirmed or denied these claims, so it's up to you to decide. Personally, I don't think it matters either way: it's just something funny to watch.
- The surprising popularity of Leeroy Jenkins includes: a character in video game Mass Effect (Richard L. Jenkins, who rushes into battle and dies); a spoof done by Dueling Analogs webcomic; countless mentions in various blogs online; and even on T-Shirts ("I love Leeroy") worn by Asian girls. It's a legend that's up there with phenomenons like All Your Base!

- That video was pretty funny, the part I liked most wasn't Leeroy running into the room alone, but the hilarious reactions of his guildmates.
